Newsletter of Wesley College(Colombo) Old Boys’ Union Australia Branch Incorporated
2000 ISSUE 2 JUNE
From the President….
Gentlemen,
Let me take this opportunity to thank all members for electing me as your President for the year 2000/2001. I am indeed privileged to hold this position and will do everything in my power to discharge my duties to the best of my ability for your benefit and to take our Association forward in the year ahead.
I want to thank Mr Keith De Kretser for his devoted service and dedication and for the excellent job he did during his many years on the Committee. His wife Myra and children have always been there to lend a hand when necessary. They will not be easily forgotten, and deserve our sincere thanks.
It has been a tradition that Wesleyites rally round when the call is sounded as in the School song "AND WHEN WESLEY’S CALL SHALL SOUND – READY AYE, SHALL ALL BE FOUND". I sincerely urge you to support your Old Boys Union in every activity the Committee take on this year and give us whole hearted support.
An informal winter warm up "Curry Nite" is scheduled for 15 July at the All Saints Church Hall, Clayton. Please support us by coming along and bringing your family and friends.
The main event this year is our annual Dinner Dance, which will be held on 11th November 2000 at Cretan Village.
I hope every single old Wesleyite will try their best to be there. If you know of any old boys thatare not aware of our Association please encourage them to join and be part of this great organisation where we can meet and talk of the great days we had at Wesley, and in doing so help our old school too.
Finally let me thank you once again for giving me this opportunity to lead the team. My Committee and I will always be there if you need to contact us on any matter.
Good luck and God Bless
REG BARTHOLOMEUSZ
From the Editors desk….
My predecessor Alister Bartholomeusz suggested that this bulletin publish "Pen Portraits" of Old Boys, recognising their contributions to Wesley and Society in general. I personally think this is a great idea and invite members to submit articles on those you believe should be "framed"; be they academics, sportsmen, or just great characters. In keeping with this suggestion the first such pen portrait is featured in this article.Shakespeare’s Mark Anthony said "I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him". Let us not tarry that long.
In conclusion I share with you a contribution from the former President of the Colombo O.B.U.
