Subject: Tyrone & Bernadine Jansz - Kidney Transplant - Update 01
a very quick update on behalf of Tyrone & Bernadine... and it is requested that you please circulate to your database/contacts who may be known to them.
please accept my apologies as i am unable to advise everybody individually... but i will do so with a more detailed update/summary asap and when Tyrone & Bernadine have fully recovered from this major operation.
Brief Summary
as most of you are aware... Tyrone has been on a kidney dialysis machine for 7+ years and was in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Bernadine (TJs wife) had volunteered to donate her kidney many many years ago... but her decision to give Tyrone this “priceless gift of life” was previously medically rejected. Bernadine was finally accepted by the medical teams as being a suitable donor & the transplant operation took place yesterday (wednesday 12 Jan 2011).
we will continue to remember, honour, respect, the other ‘super individuals’ who had previously volunteered to donate this “priceless gift of life” and were rejected for various medical reasons and i will acknowledge them individually in my next update.
Bernadine
went
into theatre at 8am ~ 5 hours in surgery and 2 hours in ICU recovery (7 hours
total) ~ back in transplant ward at 3pm.
removal of kidney was successful but more difficult than expected & has
undergone a lot of pain. her first words is to enquire about Tyrones wellbeing &
progress.
bernadine is still under heavy sedation but is aware of her surroundings. her
face continues to show signs of severe pain & trauma.
God will bless her for making such a fantastic donation & this great, sincere, priceless, GIFT of LIFE. Good on you Bernadine !!!!
Tyrone
went into theatre at 12noon ~ 6 hours surgery and 2 hours in ICU recovery (8 hours total) ~ back in transplant ward at 8pm.
transplant of kidney was extremely successful. new kidney is functioning well & the transplant team very happy and ecstatic with his progress.
his first words was to enquire about Bernadines wellbeing & progress.
Tyrone is still under heavy sedation but looking calm & peaceful. the trauma/stress associated with his condition for the last 7 years seems to have disappeared from his face and he is looking better already.
all appears to be going well.
Best Regards...
